Girl Scout Troop Leaders: Earn STEM Badges with a Hands-On Workshop in Moorestown & Medford
Troop leaders have a lot on their plates. Planning badge activities that are fun, age-appropriate and actually teach something can take hours. That's where we come in.
At Math Accelerator, we run hands-on STEM badge workshops for Girl Scout troops at our learning centers in Moorestown and Medford, NJ. Each session is planned, supplied and led by our team, so leaders can relax and enjoy watching their girls learn.
What a workshop looks like
Each workshop runs about 1.5 to 2 hours. There are no desks and no worksheets. Girls work in teams, build things, solve challenges and play, while learning the math and science behind each activity. By the end, they've completed the badge activities and gained something just as important: confidence that they can do STEM.
Daisy workshops
Board Game Design Challenge: create a board game and engineer your own game spinner.
Robots: design a robot to solve an everyday problem, then program a Code-a-pillar through an obstacle course.

Brownie workshops
Making Games: invent and play games that don't need a screen, cards or a ball.
Programming Robots: start with a simple algorithm, then program a robot.
Inventor: build a working clock or a popsicle-stick bridge and learn how inventors think.
Home Scientist: discover the science hiding in your own home, including building a mini volcano.
Money Manager: practice budgeting and smart spending.
Junior and Cadette troops
Workshops for older Girl Scouts are coming soon. If you lead a Junior or Cadette troop, contact us and we'll let you know when they're ready.
Why math belongs in badge work
Many girls decide early on that they're "not good at math." Hands-on activities change that. When a girl builds a bridge that holds weight or programs a robot to finish a maze, she sees herself as someone who can solve problems. That feeling lasts far longer than the afternoon.
